A Message from President Bill Destler
Increasing faculty, staff, and student diversity at RIT must be among our highest priorities. This is not simply because it is a reasonable goal for AALANA and female populations at RIT to reflect regional and national demographics, although this is an important objective. It is also a matter of our future national economic survival. If the U.S. is to maintain and enhance its current standard of living in the new knowledge economy, American colleges and universities will need to expand opportunities on their campuses to members of historically under-represented groups such as African Americans, Latino/a Americans, Native Americans, and in some areas, women, if we are to have the trained workforce we will need in years to come. In addition, increasing the diversity of these populations on our campus will also provide added educational value to all of our programs through the diverse experiences and insights that members of these population groups bring to the RIT community.
Wonderful things are happening at RIT. The links on this page will connect you to the many facets of diversity on campus. Please don't hesitate to contact our Chief Diversity Officer for more information or to share your ideas.
